With the town centre and harbour just a short walk away, this two-bedroom cottage would perfectly suit couples or small families who are looking to really soak up the English Riviera atmosphere.

Entering this stylish property on the first floor, you’ll discover a contemporary kitchen/diner with a wide Juliet balcony, which allows for unrivalled views across the harbour. Rustle up some freshly caught seafood which you’ve picked up at the town’s fish market, before settling down to eat together at the dining table. Take the stairs up to the light and airy lounge, arguably the most impressive room in the house, which is dominated by floor-to-ceiling windows. Step out onto the spacious balcony and enjoy a morning coffee while you watch the boats come and go, or if you’re in the mood for a little al fresco dining, settle back with a glass of wine to watch the sun set. When it’s time to rest, you’ll be heading downstairs to the welcoming bedrooms on the ground floor. Juliet balconies in both ensure you’ll wake up to that wonderful view across the harbour.

Explore the pretty town of Torquay by hopping on the passenger ferry across the bay. Despite the odd layout and difficulties finding it, we enjoyed our stay at Top Gallant. It's comfortable and has everything you need for a short break. The views are amazing and great restaurants, shops and buses are an easy walk away.

Delightful cottage with outstanding views across the harbour and close to shops and restaurants. With all cottages there are compromises and the only drawback with this one are the stairs which are steep, twisty and narrow.
