Through to the living room and you’ll find vaulted ceilings and exposed beams. Fire up the warming wood burner and take a seat on the comfortable sofa. There’s also a TV with Freeview and a DVD player for entertaining evenings in. The feature beams and ceilings continue through to the two bedrooms. A pretty double room has a built-in wardrobe and the twin room (which can be made up as a super-king on request) has superb views into the garden. The family bathroom has a shower and WC.

To the rear of the cottage is a spacious enclosed garden. A large lawned space boasts a border of mature shrubs and pretty flowers as well as a wooden bench. We really enjoyed our stay. The grounds are absolutely majestic. Starting with the beautifully kept gardens which boast gorgeous flowers and well-trimmed, soft lawns. Following with the private stream and meadow. It feels like your stepping into a different universe, almost untouched but magically well-tended to.

Lovely accommodation, well equipped, comfortable, and spacious, couldn't fault it. Local pub within a couple of minutes walk, really good food. The river walk which was available to only those staying at the Lodge or Winder Hall was a fantastic bonus, we walked along the bank several times and never saw a soul. If you are looking to stay in the CocRead morekermouth area I would highly recommend. Hide

The only downside was that the local (150m away) inn was only open for limited days and hours, that is closed Monday & Tuesday.
