This traditional four-storey house is a great little base for a small family or a couple looking to be close to Brixham’s harbour, shops and restaurants. Navigate your way along the narrow roads lined with pretty painted cottages and you’ll feel city life melt away.

Step straight into the living room and there’s no doubt you’ve arrived at the seaside, with a fresh nautical colour scheme with plenty of comfy beach-hut emblazoned cushions. It’s down a steep, cottage-style spiral staircase to the kitchen/diner, where children and grown-ups alike will love discovering the ‘secret garden’ and its secluded sunny patio - the perfect spot for a post-dinner glass from the wine fridge, while someone else loads the dishwasher. The first-floor double room has a lovely bright feel, and children or extra guests will settle straight into the twin on the second floor – also accessed via a steep and winding staircase.

The cottage is set just a road back from the town centre, with ample cafes, restaurants and shops to wander, while the bustling harbour is 150 metres away. It’s less than a mile through town to Breakwater Beach and the seawater pool, and about the same in the other direction to pretty Battery Gardens and the hidden coves along the coast. Walkers can hook up with the South West Coast Path and visit Elberry Cove, 2 miles from the house, where the crystal-clear blue waters twinkle in the sunshine. Or walk around the headland to Berry Head Lighthouse – the shortest but also the highest lighthouse in the UK, with some fantastic views. Further afield, the historic town of Dartmouth with its castle, and the shopping and attractions of Paignton are each just a 5-mile drive away.

  • Two bedrooms
  • 1 double with a TV (located on the first floor)
  • 1 twin bedroom (located on the second floor)
  • Bathroom with shower-over-bath and WC (located on the second floor)
  • TV , DVD and Netflix in the lounge
  • Oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, wine fridge, slimline dishwasher, and washing machine
  • Due to both steep and winding staircase, unsuitable  for under-5s and people with less mobility.
  • Electric and heating included
  • Wi-Fi included
  • Parking permit for nearby Church car park provided (There are restrictions with the parking permit on Sundays)
  • Seafront, pub, and shops all within walking distance
  • Brixham is busy fishing village situated on a very steep hill, so access to some parts of the village can be challenging.
  • Many of the amenities and cottages in Brixham are accessed via steps some of which can be steep. Please contact us if you have specific requirements.
  • There are many small winding streets that are not suitable for cars.
  • Arrival: 15:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 1 dog allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week

Delightful cottage, just a short walk from harbour and restaurants. Comfortable, warm and well equipped home. The stairs are definitely a challenge but after a week you get used to them. We has no issue with noise from local pub which was a few doors down the road. Think the seagulls were more noisy! Carpark was definitely a bonus, even if it was aRead more short walk away. Hide

Lovely stay at Seagulls Rest, location is great and the house was kept very warm for us. We had a slight issue with some light bulbs going out but this was dealt with very quickly by the property manager which we greatly appreciated.

Seagulls rest was by far one of the loveliest cottages we have ever stayed it. The stairs are steep as previously mentioned but the only downside which I feel I must mention was the noise from the pub a few doors down on Fri and Sat night until midnight, I am amazed that they are allowed to have such loud music in a residential street so late. Exactly what I hope for in a fishermans cottage. Quirky layout over 4 floors, comfortable seating and beds, well equipped kitchen for home cooking. Bonus of a little courtyard for sitting out.
