Beautifully presented traditional fisherman’s cottage in quiet yet enviable location in the heart of Brixham

For a peaceful coastal break, this former fisherman’s cottage set in the heart of town is ideal for smaller families or friends seeking a centrally located base to explore Brixham and the wider area. The bustling amenities of town are within walking distance where you can stroll along the sandy beaches, browse in the galleries or feast on freshly caught fish in one of the harbourside bistros. Take a trip to nearby Paignton for traditional games on the pier or discover underwater habitats at Torquay’s Living Coasts aquarium.

 

Situated in a traffic-free area, this quaint property is full of charm and character. The open-plan living area is tastefully decorated, and underfloor heating makes this a warm and cosy space. After a day at the beach, put your feet up on the sofa and relax. Beyond is the well-equipped kitchen, perfect for preparing locally purchased produce to be enjoyed at the nearby dining table. Up a set of winding stairs are the bedrooms and family shower room. The first-floor twin bedroom and second-floor king-size room both have magnificent views across the harbour. A further child’s bedroom is also on the second floor. Outside, you can stroll around the shared garden or enjoy a morning coffee on the bistro stable to the front of the cottage.

 

Wander into Brixham to discover its maritime heritage at the museum, select your supper in the fish market or share fish and chips sat on the harbour wall. Take to the water for a sailing lesson or try your hand at stand-up paddleboarding. Step back in time on board the Paddle Steamer Kingswear Castle for a Dartmouth River Cruise (6.5 miles) and disembark to climb the battlements of Dartmouth Castle for splendid views along the river.

I recently stayed there for a week with my 8 year boy, we had a fantastic time. The cottage was spot on for what we needed. Easy to stroll to the harbor where it all happens. Recommend using the long stay car park just past the fish market and getting the weekly ticket which you can use in all the Torbay car parks in the area. Will go again!!

We have stayed at Gull's Perch several times now. It is such a lovely place to stay in a fab location. The property is extremely clean and comfortable and has amazing views of the harbour. We have already booked to come back again in October.

A really well appointed cottage, nicely decorated and maintained with quality furnishings and fittings. Fabulous views from both bedrooms, both double glazed so no early seagull alarm calls. Hairdryer, towels, kitchen items (cling, liquid, kitchen roll) all provided. We struggled to park close to St Peter's Hill, so parked near the Co-Op on Great RRead moreea Rd. It's quite a steep walk down with bags and harder when walking back with bags. I wouldn't bring a wheelie bag again for ease of carrying. Hide

Such a lovely property, We have been coming here for several years and have already booked our next stay here. This property is in a fabulous location, with great views of the harbour. Very comfortable cottage, excellent location and views, very sweet little garden area. Very clean, nicely decorated, comfortable beds. There are a couple of caveats, if you have mobility difficulties this is not the property for you as the stairs are steep and twisty and the cottage is up a steep hill. Fabulous cottage, with wonderful views overlooking the harbour. Very short but steep walk from the harbour and town. Everything has been thought about and catered for with high standards of hygiene. Fantastic cottage that is worth every penny.

Brilliant location, just a few metres (uphill!) from the high street and harbour, we enjoyed our stay at Gulls Perch. We did find the living space very constrained for two adults and two boys (aged 8 and 11). Also, we hadnt realised the outdoor space was not private. The compensation was lovely panoramic views from the bedroom windows.

Extremely clean, well equipped cosy cottage in a great location. There is a steep incline of steps as mentioned but this really isnt an issue for most people. Plenty of car park space 10 min walk away. We used the excellent number 12 bus service most of the week, taking us to Paignton & Torquay and back. Very comfortable stay, the bed was exceptionally comfortable and the choice of pillows was very much appreciated. the cottage was very well stocked with cutlery, crockery glasses etc. On the down side the walk up the hill and climb up several sets of steps to get to the cottage is not for the faint hearted especially with suitcases. Such a lovely property. We've been holidaying in Brixham for over 30 years and stayed in lots of properties but since discovering Gulls Perch we don't stay anywhere else. It's clean and comfortable and a home from home in an excellent location. We've already booked to go back again later this year and looking forward to it already.

Very nice welcome with flowers, chocolate biscuits and wine in the fridge. Also a bottle of milk. All these touches were appreciated plus the text to say the cottage was ready earlier than we were told. Lovely views from the windows and everything very clean. The stairs were not a problem for us but they were very steep having to hold onto the wallRead mores to ease our way up and down. We've stayed here several times now and as always we had a lovely relaxing holiday. This property is in the perfect location close to the harbour with great views from the bedrooms upstairs which both have window seats. We love staying in Brixham and have now stayed at this particular property 4 times and have booked again for October. Its has amazing views of the harbour from upstairs and is in an excellent location. Its definitely worth a visit. There is no on street parking but you can apply for a permit to park on the harbour which is just a short walk away.

Treat yourself to a memorable holiday in the beautiful coastal resort of Brixham, where there are a variety of fantastic experiences that will entertain all ages. A lively harbour town, there is plenty to see and do in and around the town.

Crabbing is the number one activity in Brixham, and little ones will love dangling their line over the water’s edge and seeing how many crabs they can capture. Children young and old will also be entertained by the stories of the smugglers and the pirates who once walked the streets of the village. There are several narrow streets to explore lined with colourful fishermen’s houses, with plenty of other great places nearby to discover including Paignton, Plymouth and Torquay.

For the active in your group, there are all sorts of activities to try your hand at, whether you’re a fan of swimming in the sea or prefer to enjoy long walks on dry land, with some great places to enjoy treks including the Berry Head Nature Reserve.
