Attractive two-bedroomed cottage enjoying a central yet quiet location in the English Riviera town of Brixham, situated just a few metres from the town’s bustling harbour.

With two equally charming double rooms, this cute cottage is a great seaside retreat for friends or small families. It’s got the best of both worlds with a location right in the heart of town, yet set back from the roads in a traffic-free zone.

Step into the rustic-style kitchen and you’ll know you’re onto a winner. Made from reclaimed wood, with cosy underfloor heating, it’s a great place to chat and catch up. Fire up the wood burner on cold evenings, relax in the antique high-back chairs with a glass of wine, and the pressures of everyday life will fade away. Opt for the top floor bedroom in the eaves and throw open the French doors to enjoy views over the rooftops and the harbour, or choose the first floor double with its atmospheric beamed ceiling and pretty sash window.

It is a matter of steps from the property to the harbourside and town centre, with a decent scattering of cafes and restaurants. There are boat trips and fishing excursions to occupy anyone keen to get out on the water, and plenty of coastal walks for those who prefer their feet on firm ground. Stroll half a mile from the house to pretty Battery Gardens, or if you’re feeling energetic, carry on along the coast path all the way to Paignton, 4 miles, where you’ll have certainly earned a cream tea. Hop in the car and visit some of historical Dartmouth, 5 miles away, then hire paddleboards and enjoy the serenity of the River Dart.

I have been lucky to stay in this lovely well equipped cottage twice. It is perfectly located for coastal walks, strolls around the harbour, shops and restaurants. It's very dog friendly, a fab holiday and ideally placed for parking. Enjoy

We had a lovely stay in Brixham. Griffin Cottage is cozy with traditional features as well as having a light/airy and modern feel. The location is great and in walking distance to everything - just be ready for the steps as a lot of Brixham is built on slopes so this is unavoidable! Loved the top bedroom & views out to the harbour - super comfy bedRead more as well! Not much living space downstairs but it was perfect for 2 of us and 1 dog - may be cramped for any more people. Would recommend :) thanks Hide

We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage location couldnt be better- 2 minutes walk to the harbour and most pubs and restaurants. Even though the location was central it was really quiet. We only ate in once but found everything we needed and felt the cottage was very well equipped. The underfloor heating was lovely in a very cold May week! The liviRead moreng space is quite small so perfect for a couple but would be a bit cramped for any more. Also steep stairs so not ideal if any mobility issues. Hide

The staircase is no good if you have small children, also the last few steps up to the cottage are very steep. I struggled with the last lap especially with a very excited dog. Treat yourself to a memorable holiday in the beautiful coastal resort of Brixham, where there are a variety of fantastic experiences that will entertain all ages. A lively harbour town, there is plenty to see and do in and around the town.

Crabbing is the number one activity in Brixham, and little ones will love dangling their line over the water’s edge and seeing how many crabs they can capture. Children young and old will also be entertained by the stories of the smugglers and the pirates who once walked the streets of the village. There are several narrow streets to explore lined with colourful fishermen’s houses, with plenty of other great places nearby to discover including Paignton, Plymouth and Torquay.

For the active in your group, there are all sorts of activities to try your hand at, whether you’re a fan of swimming in the sea or prefer to enjoy long walks on dry land, with some great places to enjoy treks including the Berry Head Nature Reserve. And for fun-packed days out, there are several to treat the kids to in the local area, including Paignton Zoo, Woodlands Theme Park and Kent’s Cavern.
