Grade II listed former fishermen’s cottage with many original features such as Sash windows retained. Located on the harbour front in Brixham, one of three towns situated in the region of Torbay, with the town’s shops and eateries within walking distance.
This quirky little cottage, perched on the harbourside road, couldn’t be better placed for a couple looking to explore the seaside town of Brixham and around. With just a flight of steps between you and the harbour, you can arrive and investigate in minutes.
Once up the steps you’ll be greeted by a light living room, where original beams stretch overhead. Breakfast at the dining table cannot fail to incorporate people-watching as the bustling harbour comes to life below you. The compact kitchen has everything you’ll need, but frankly with restaurants on your doorstep and the freshest fish suppers on hand, you’d be forgiven if you never open the oven door. Climb the steep stairs with its rope banister, to find both bedrooms are also blessed with views of the harbour and Torbay beyond. The twin bedroom especially, with its dual aspect windows has a lovely bright airy feel.
Outside, there are ample restaurants and cafes, plus busy markets and trinket shops to wander around. Try every flavour of ice cream, give crabbing a go, visit the pirate ship The Golden Hind, and pick your favourite boat in the harbour. When you’re ready to spread your wings, hop on a ferry from across the road to Torquay and visit the aquarium, or enjoy a paddle in the fantastically named Babbacombe Bay. History buffs will enjoy seeing the 14th-century castle in Dartmouth, 5 miles away, and the popular Castle Tea Rooms will tempt the less historically minded too.
Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.
