An attractive Grade II listed cottage with contemporarily styled accommodation occupying three floors and enjoying stunning sea views across to Brixham’s bustling harbour.

This cottage is located just a few hundred metres from the seafront at Brixham, one of three attractive seaside towns which are located on Torbay. Torbay is the main fishing harbour in the area and it is possible for visitors to take a fishing boat trip or pleasure boat cruise from the town’s marina. The Brixham harbour has a fantastic choice of restaurants, pubs and cafes, many of which specialise in the local seafood. Further around the bay are the towns of Torquay and Paignton, each with its own individual character. Torquay is a chic resort town with palm-lined promenades and sandy beach. Meanwhile Paignton has a fantastic family-friendly atmosphere with its steam railway and popular zoo.

A flight of external stone stairs leads to the front door of this property, via a pretty, terraced seating area. On entering, guests come first to the dining room, an attractive space with its open fire, oak floors and beamed ceiling, as well as a TV and iPod dock. A single step from the dining room leads up to the stylish kitchen which is equipped with an oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge and microwave. The washing machine can be found in a separate room, where there is also a pleasant breakfast area. The first floor is home to the property’s three bedrooms, the first of which is a lovely double bedroom which benefits from an en-suite shower room with walk-in shower and WC. The second bedroom is a twin room, whilst the third bedroom has a set of bunk beds. The main shower room, like the en-suite, has a walk-in shower and WC. The second floor of the property provides a stunning lounge, which enjoys far-reaching views to the sea, well-chosen contemporary-style furniture and a TV.

Outside, the property enjoys three separate terraced seating areas, all perfect for enjoying alfresco drinks on spring and summer evenings. There is one off-road parking space provided just opposite the property.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

  • Three bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin, and 1 bunk bedroom
  • 2 shower rooms, each with walk-in shower room and WC (one of which is en-suite to the master bedroom)

Clam Cottage is a typical Brixham, three storey fisherman cottage. It shares all the usual traits of these cottages; a small and mountainous rear garden, split over multiple levels that ultimately offers an excellent view of the harbour, however, it takes young legs and determination to take advantage of this! Inside, the cottage is well equiped, wRead morearm and pleasantly rustic, in keeping with it's origins. The ground floor has the kitchen and dining room. The kitchen has everything you're likely to need for a self-catering family. A large 5 ring, two oven range, microwave, fridge & dishwasher. The freezer compartment is the usual small affair, big enough for a bag of chips and a couple of small packages but little else, so don't go overboard with the frozen stuff. There is a large dining table and a good quality TV. The 1st floor has the bedrooms and bathroom. The master bedroom has an excellent en suite bathroom with shower. The main bathroom also features an very good shower with plenty of on-demand hot water and pressure. The 2nd floor is a converted attic. This is a fantastic room that acts as the main social area of the house, with settees and chairs, books and TV... and, of course, the best view of Brixham. With careful planning, this room is a delight to spend an evening in. Make sure you stock it well with whatever provisions you need to make your evening an enjoyable one, traipsing up and down 2 flights of stairs soon loses is novelty. Car parking is better than some of the other, similar, Brixham cottages we've stayed in. Although, it is a communal car park, it is handilly opposite the cottage and, ironically considerable closer that the Quayside Hotel that it belongs to! You also have to visit the Quayside Hotel to obtain your permit. The parking spaces aren't allocated and looks to be regularly oversubscribed, that said, we didn't have any problems, although, we frequently spent the day walking and not using our car. The cottage is perfectly located for the coastal walk to Berry Head and for Brixham harbour. There are also several other beautiful bays within a couple of hours walk towards Paignton (look out for the seals :) ). In keeping with the majority of West Country coastlines, the coastal paths offer fantastic views and beautiful bays but do tend to be a little challenging to those less used to significant ups & downs. Treat yourself to a memorable holiday in the beautiful coastal resort of Brixham, where there are a variety of fantastic experiences that will entertain all ages. A lively harbour town, there is plenty to see and do in and around the village.

Crabbing is the number one activity in Brixham, and little ones will love dangling their line over the water’s edge and seeing how many crabs they can capture. Children young and old will also be entertained by the stories of the smugglers and the pirates who once walked the streets of the village. There are several narrow streets to explore lined with colourful fishermen’s houses, with plenty of other great places nearby to discover including Paignton, Plymouth and Torquay.

For the active in your group, there are all sorts of activities to try your hand at, whether you’re a fan of swimming in the sea or prefer to enjoy long walks on dry land, with some great places to enjoy treks including the Berry Head Nature Reserve. And for fun-packed days out, there are several to treat the kids to in the local area, including Paignton Zoo, Woodlands Theme Park and Kent’s Cavern.
