Property code: OC-T35056

A spectacular South Devon retreat, this contemporary Brixham bolthole sits in a commanding position overlooking the harbour and the sea on the celebrated English Riviera. Sleeping eight guests, the four-bedroom holiday hideaway also benefits from a superb situation for those wishing to be close to the bustling port’s colourful shops, galleries, bars and eateries. Just 0.5 miles from the turquoise waters of Breakwater Beach, where you can paddle, swim, picnic and even learn to scuba dive, the townhouse is also a mile’s walk from Fishcombe Cove, which is perfect for snorkelling, and sandy St Mary’s Bay, where you can pick up the South West Coast Path. Book an exciting boat trip out from the harbour to see the dolphins or stay on firmer ground when you visit Golden Hind Museum Ship, a full-size replica of Sir Francis Drake’s Tudor galleon. Torquay, with its many seaside attractions, is 9.5 miles away.

Wander inside from road level to find yourselves in bright, airy accommodation with plenty of space to spread out into. Leave your flip-flops and beach bags in the hall and head through to the open-plan kitchen/diner to make fresh coffee in the machine or pour yourself a cold drink. Pull open the doors so you can wander out into the sea air and gaze out over the harbour from the balcony. The light-filled kitchen/diner, which has a central island, is also the perfect place to prepare your holiday meals and dine together. Also at this level is the fabulous lounge, with a vaulted ceiling and glass gable end that opens to reveal a Juliet balcony. Relax here in the summer months or light a fire in the wood burner when it is chillier. Settle on the plush soft seating to stream your favourite show on the Smart TV. On this floor, you also have access to a garage, with a small utility space where you can rinse and dry beach towels. As night falls on the South Devon coast, venture downstairs to your bedrooms and bathrooms. These include two lovely doubles and a king-size, all with glass doors onto the courtyard and its sea views. The king-size has a sleek en-suite shower room, while the doubles have use of the family bathroom. There is also a twin bedroom next to a family shower room.

Choose where to relax out in the sunshine on fine days. There is a bistro set in the courtyard, which is ideal for afternoon tea with Devon scones and clotted cream. The main seating area upstairs on the balcony offers fantastic, unrivalled sea views and is a splendid spot for evening meals or your favourite tipple as the lights of Brixham begin to twinkle. This exceptional property has the rare benefit of private parking for one vehicle, plus a garage for another smaller car.
